I am so excited that the holiday season is finally upon us. We already put up all of our decorations and our tree, and I love it being there. There is something so special about Christmas time!
One thing I love during the season is finding books centered around Christmas. To be honest, there are more than you would think! On a chilly weekend day, there is almost nothing I love more than snuggling up on the couch in front of the tree, with a peppermint mocha in hand, reading a good book. And if it’s holiday themed – well that’s a bonus! With that being said, I wanted to share some of my holiday themed favorites!
The Quinn Family Series by Elin Hilderbrand – this series starts with Winter Street and there are currently three books out in the series – Winter Street, Winter Stroll, and Winter Storms. I have read the first two and have been waiting to read the latest one until it was the holiday season, so it’s next on my list! I love this series and how it is still centered around life on Nantucket (as all of Hilderbrand’s books are), yet highlights the holiday season. These books are filled with family drama and twists and turns that will leave you guessing! I think it was originally supposed to be a trilogy, but Hilderbrand said this season that there will be more coming out.
Richard Paul Evans books – this author always writes such sweet Christmas stories – my mom and I started reading them years ago. They are definitely lighter reads, but I think they’re perfect for the holiday season! I haven’t read his newest yet, The Mistletoe Secret, but it is on my list! My mom and I both read and loved The Gift as well as Promise Me. He honestly has so many that you could spend the whole season reading them! They all have great characters and messages.
Christmas on Jane Street by Billy Romp – I read this last year right after I finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and it was a very quick read. But, I loved it. It’s a true story about a family from Vermont who goes to New York City every year during the holiday season to sell Christmas trees. It’s such a sweet story and I really enjoyed reading it and getting to know the family. It was so cool to hear about the yearly tradition they had and in what ways it was special to them, as well as how it changed from year to year. I would definitely recommend it this holiday season.
The 13th Gift by Joanne Huist Smith – this is another true story about a family going through a rough time during the holiday season. I was really touched by this story and it reminded me how important kindness is all the time, but especially during the holiday season.
If you have any holiday book recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
