As Told by Sissy

What I’ve Been Reading…

April 5, 2016

I’ve read a few books since the last time I posted…so I wanted to share my thoughts on a few choices:

Somewhere Out There by Amy Hatvany – This book had popped up on Amazon and on Goodreads for me, so I decided to read it. I had read another book by this author which I’d liked, and this one sounded like it had an interesting plot. I ended up liking it – it was an interesting story and I liked the characters. It was easy to empathize with mostly all of them. Overall, it was well written and throughout the whole thing, I was engaged.

The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin – This is another book that I’d seen a lot of hype around, and I was very interested to see what it was like. It had been described as the Gossip Girl of a different era, so that intrigued me. To be honest, this book started off slow and was a little confusing at the beginning. But, once it picked up, I thought it was a great story.

The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney – This book just came out a couple weeks ago and I’d seen it advertised a few places as well. I thought it sounded really good and like a story I could definitely get into. That hunch turned out to be correct, and I truly enjoyed this book. I got into it pretty quickly and liked how the story was told from many different characters’ point of view. It is a lighter book, but I would definitely recommend it.

Right now, I’m in the middle of As Close to Us As Breathing by Elizabeth Poliner. I’ll let you know what I think after I finish it!
