I read two books this week that I wanted to post about. They were super different from each other…
The first book I read was Play Dead by Anne Frasier. It was on sale in the Kindle store and it had a ton of great reviews, so I thought I would give it a try. This is part of the Elise Sandberg series, and I was excited to try a new series as I love all the Harlan Coben and Lisa Scottoline ones. I wish I could say I loved this book more, but I couldn’t get into it. I found it almost hard to follow because there was so much going on, and the entire time I was reading it I felt like I was waiting for the story to pick up. It just wasn’t very riveting like I expected it to to be, and the characters were very hard for me to relate to. It just wasn’t my cup of tea, I guess.
The next book that I read I absolutely loved. I gave it five stars on Goodreads! I started reading What Was Mine by Helen Klein Ross on Thursday night and couldn’t stop thinking about it from the first page. This was a story about a woman who, desperate for a baby of her own, steals a child from an unattended shopping cart. The story is told from alternating perspectives – which is always so interesting. I loved the way the author portrayed the emotions of everyone involved in this complex and jaw dropping story. It was so well written and this story will definitely stay with me for time to come. I am so sad I finished it.
Up next, I am reading Somewhere Out There by Amy Hatvany.
