Childhood Favorites

There is nothing quite like your favorite childhood books. I feel incredibly lucky that I grew up loving reading and with constant encouragement from my parents and teachers to read, find books I loved, and really let the stories I was reading become a part of me. Today, reading is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I look forward to reading every day, even if it is just for five minutes. I constantly marvel at how many books there are waiting to be read – it’s exciting! I love finding new authors, series, and stories to love and I love hearing from others what their favorite books are.

Ever since I heard that The BFG by Roald Dahl will be made into a movie this year, I have been wanting to reread it before I see the film. That got me thinking about so many of my other favorite childhood books and the impact that they had on my life, love for reading, and passion for writing – even at such a young age. When I think back to it, I have so many favorite series that I followed through much of my childhood (I mean, it was a huge privilege to grow up with Harry Potter).

Anyways, I already blogged about all the bookends I have been pining for…and that got me thinking about how I would decorate a home office – if we had one. I think a really fun idea would be to decorate it with framed old covers of favorite books. And…I definitely would not leave out my childhood favorites!

After looking at all these covers…I am dying to reread some old favorites. Also…I love the way this nursery is decorated in Shel Silverstein poems. Adorable!
