Hostess gifts can be tough, because you don’t want to bring someone junk that is going to end up unused in a closet somewhere. That is just annoying for everyone, as it will feel like clutter to the recipient and a waste of money for you.
There are a ton of unique and useful gifts that you can bring to someone who is hosting you at their house for a fun event. Of course, certain themed events can give way to particular gift ideas (like, a barbecue or outdoor party would be a great time to give a personalized beach bag or towel), but there are definitely more standard gifts to keep on hand that would be great for any hostess. Here are my favorite picks:
Candle and Matches – an elegant candle and set of cute matches is useful and nice for the recipient. Everyone can always use a candle, that’s for sure! I like to stock up on nice ones from One Kings Lane. They always have high-end candles at good price points as well as adorable matchbox sets. Anthropologie also always has a great candle selection. I also like to stock up on nice candles when I find them at HomeGoods so that I have them when I need them.
A journal and pencil set – giving a nice journal and pencil set (or any fun writing utensil, like a nice pen) is a great hostess gift. What could be more perfect for someone that loves to host than this “Social Butterfly” journal with these fun Design Darling pencils?
Lotion and lip balm sets – for someone who is hosting people at their house, they are undoubtedly cleaning and doing dishes, which can wear down their skin on their hands. There’s nothing worse than dry skin, so show them you appreciate their hard work and them having you over with a nice hand cream set from L’Occitane. The lip balms are another great gift that are tasteful and luxurious.
Cookbook and kitchen accessory – if your hostess loves to cook, a cookbook is another fun option. I like this idea because you can personalize it a bit – if she loves to bake, a dessert cookbook is a great idea. If she’s more of a dinner cook, there are a ton of great options out there as well. If she loves to brew up a delicious cocktail, there are a million books out there. Pairing this with a fun kitchen accessory like a fun spatula or tea towel is always a great idea to give the gift a little something extra.
Reusable bags – I absolutely love reusable bags. They’re perfect if you’re toting extra stuff to work, need to bring some extra goods when traveling, brining a package to the UPS store to ship, or for carrying groceries home in. The Baggu bags are THE BEST and, if you have the time, getting it personalized is the perfect touch. I love this bold floral patterned bag – so fun!
