You will learn through my blog that I am obsessed with giving gifts. I love shopping for them and finding the perfect thing for each person that I know and care about.
That being said, I feel like being twenty-something, friends are constantly moving into new places and I’m on the hunt for housewarming gifts. I think it’s always nice to bring a little something over when you’re visiting for the first time. That doesn’t mean it has to be something huge or crazily expensive. Usually, I wouldn’t want to buy someone anything huge anyways since I’m not sure what they already have and/or what they have space for, need…and so on.
Here are a few of my favorite go-to’s for simple and sweet housewarming gifts for a gal’s new apartment:
Kate Spade home kitchen accessories – okay, so how cute are these Kate Spade ‘All in Good Taste’ kitchen items? The first time I saw them at Macy’s I was so excited! I didn’t even know they existed. They are reasonably priced and very useful items that are super cute. I love the polka dotted baking dish and nesting bowls. Since that is kind of on a baking theme – these would be cute paired with a fun and yummy baking mix – like something from the William Sonoma collection.
Bath and Body works basket (or something of the sort) – this is my favorite gift to give someone if they just moved into a new place! I love it because I feel like this is one of the last things that people think about buying for themselves when they move, and it is extremely useful. I usually go to Bath and Body Works and pick out a variety of hand soaps, wall flower plugs and refills, and a few candles. Who could resist all the wonderful smells?! Some of my favorites are Japanese Cherry Blossom, Moonlight Path, Kitchen Lemon, and Fresh Cotton. I always arrange these in a cute basket and add a bow just for good measure.
Spices Set – I think that this is a good gift that most people usually don’t think of. All of those spices that my mom has always had in the cabinet that I use whenever I bake? They add up at the grocery store! A nice set of gourmet spices is a great gift that the recipient will actually use – and it will probably last them a long time! It’s also nice because you can customize it – if they like to bake, spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and so on are great. If they love to cook, you could go with spices more along that theme. This gift would be great paired with your favorite cookbook (mine is SkinnyTaste).
Flowers – who doesn’t love getting a beautiful flower arrangement?! I know they won’t last forever, but it is always so refreshing to see them sitting on your counter or table. You can also make this into a gift that they can (partially) keep and use again but having the arrangement done in a beautiful vase. I love this polka dot Kate Spade bowl vase, but you can definitely find something less expensive someplace like HomeGoods (here is some inspiration for something different but so pretty!).
Coffee/Tea – I am a huge coffee lover, and I know some serious tea drinkers as well. Nice gourmet coffee or a fancy tea set is always a useful gift for someone. For sweets lovers Godiva coffee is a great choice, and for tea lovers, David’s Tea always has fun sets and flavors! This would be great paired with a cute mug or even fun to-go cups (I love these Lilly ones!).
